Journey Through the Covadonga Lakes
Your adventure begins at the Llerado Street parking area in Cangas de Onís, where you will gather before boarding our comfortable transport. We will set off towards the mesmerizing beauty of the Picos de Europa National Park.
During the next 3.5 hours, we will enthusiastically explore the breathtaking Covadonga, Enol, and Ercina lakes, located amidst soaring peaks at an elevation of 1100 meters. As you take in the stunning scenery, we will share intriguing facts about the development of these landscapes, giving you many chances to admire the environment and snap impressive photos against the picturesque lakes. Our focus will be on appreciating the natural beauty that surrounds us.
Following this, we will make our way to Vega de Enol, the home of the famous Gamoneu cheese. Here, you’ll discover how extensive livestock farming connects with mountain ecosystems. This is where skilled shepherds craft this delightful cheese.
Our next stop will be the Mirador de la Reina, where spectacular vistas await. With binoculars and telescopes at your disposal, you'll have the opportunity to observe majestic birds of prey, including vultures and golden eagles. Learn about the fascinating reintroduction initiatives for bearded vultures, unraveling the story that inspired their powerful name.
As we reflect on our journey, we will also explore the lives of other intriguing species that inhabit the park, such as bears, wolves, and chamois. As we conclude our adventure, we will return to the starting point, allowing you to depart with memorable impressions of this extraordinary experience.
