Description
Embark on a journey that reveals the rich tapestry of history through a stunning Greek theater and a medieval town infused with Aragonese heritage on our excursion to Marsala, Erice, and Segesta. You'll uncover various historic landmarks while immersing yourself in the captivating narrative of Sicily.
Day Trip to Marsala, Erice & Segesta
Your adventure begins at 8:15 am when we pick you up from your selected meeting point. Board our minibus as we depart towards the Segesta Archaeological Park, with a travel time of approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes from Sciacca to this ancient Greek settlement.
Upon arrival, you'll enjoy a generous 1 hour and 30 minutes to explore Segesta. Despite its destruction in 306 BC, many significant structures remain, including the impressive Doric temple. Take the chance to stroll to the Greek theater, where you can relish breathtaking views of the Sicilian coast and the shimmering Mediterranean Sea.
After gathering again, we will journey to Erice, an enchanting medieval hamlet perched atop San Giuliano Hill. Here, you'll have 2 hours and 30 minutes to explore its picturesque streets at your leisure.
The charm of Erice lies in its cobblestone alleys, medieval arches, ornate courtyards, and quaint traditional shops. During your time there, we recommend visiting the Norman Castle of Venus and the Cathedral, which dates back to the 14th century and was built during the era of Frederick III of Aragon.
Our next destination will be Marsala, with a brief stop at its stunning salt flats, where you can marvel at mesmerizing salt mountains and old mills.
Finally, we will lead you to the historic center of Marsala, granting you 1 hour to navigate its delightful sights at your own pace. Discover the Garibaldi Gate, the Spanish barracks, the Mother Church, the town hall, and various other remarkable spots.
Your day trip will conclude as we return you to the starting location by 6 pm.
