Marsella Day Trip
Description
Experience the charm of a traditional Colombian village in the Risaralda region through a captivating day trip to Marsella. This journey promises to immerse you in colonial history and local agriculture.
Day Trip to Marsella
Your adventure begins at 7 am with a pickup from your hotel in Armenia. A scenic drive will lead us to Marsella, once known as "Villa Rica de Segovia," nestled in the heart of Risaralda.
As we travel, enjoy the breathtaking views of expansive coffee plantations that line the Cauca River valley. Upon arriving in Marsella, visit an agricultural farm where friendly locals will greet you with a delightful snack of patacones con hogao. This delectable dish consists of twice-fried plantains served with a traditional onion and tomato sauce, all sourced from the farm’s fresh produce.
Moving on, explore the farm's grounds where you will engage in a tour of the cacao plantations and fruit trees, with opportunities to taste some ripe, exotic fruits. Following this, join an organic chocolate making workshop, where you will have the chance to extract, roast, and grind cocoa beans yourself.
Next, as our chocolate mixture cools, we will create a delicious cocoa drink that will complement the traditional lunch. The menu features a comforting serving of sancocho, made from chicken and fresh vegetables straight from the farm's garden.
After lunch, we will head back to the village and take a moment to relish a hot cup of Colombian coffee in the main square. From there, we’ll embark on a leisurely walk around Marsella to discover key landmarks, including the Mary Immaculate Church and the House of Culture, home to a National Heritage museum.
To wrap up our day, we will explore the Botanical Garden and the José María Cemetery. Our journey will conclude with a return to your hotel in Armenia, where we expect to arrive by 4:30 pm.
