Monastery of Sant Cugat Visit with Audio Guide
Description
The Monastery of Sant Cugat features one of the most exquisite Romanesque cloisters in the Barcelona area. With this admission, visitors can delve into its rich history and architectural nuances, aided by an audio guide offering two thematic tours of the site.
Why discover the Monastery of Sant Cugat?
Situated in the historic heart of Sant Cugat del Vallès, the Monastery of Sant Cugat stands as a significant representation of medieval artistry in Catalonia.
This ticket allows for an in-depth exploration of the entire monastic complex, with origins tracing back to the 9th century. Additionally, the entry provides an audio guide in English for use on personal mobile devices.
The audio guide offers insights through two distinct tours. The first, titled "Feel the voice of the monastery", provides a glimpse into the history of one of the foremost Benedictine abbeys in Barcelona. This pathway includes access to the monastery church, where visitors can admire its treasures and witness the blend of Romanesque, Gothic, and Baroque elements.
The second tour, designated "The book of medieval stone", grants access to the renowned Romanesque cloister. Within this space, guests may observe and interpret the meaning behind a selection of 31 capitals. These architectural features, akin to the pages of a book, depict the traditions of the Benedictine monks and feature scenes from the Bible.
