Chinese opera is a traditional art form that goes far beyond what is generally understood as opera. Unlike Western opera, where singing is usually the main protagonist, Chinese opera integrates multiple disciplines equally.

A Chinese opera performance is a rich synthesis of diverse performing arts such as singing, dialogue, acting, mime, dance, and acrobatics. It's characterised by its drama, colourful make-up, elaborate costumes, and the symbolism of its movements.

TaipeiEYE Theatre is also the name of the group dedicated to preserving Taiwan's ancient culture and is the only theatre company in Taipei that offers regular weekly performances of traditional performing arts.

With this ticket, you'll have the opportunity to enjoy an authentic Chinese opera performance at the TaipeiEYE. The total experience lasts 2 hours and is divided into two parts. Firstly, you'll attend the pre-show, where you'll witness how the actors put on their make-up and costumes, bringing you even closer to the richness of Taiwanese culture.

Afterwards, the 1-hour opera performance will begin. The performances will allow you to feel the grandeur of China's 5000 years of history. The choreography, live music, and acrobatics will leave you in awe.

At the end of the show, you'll be able to take photos with the artists, taking with you an unforgettable souvenir of this unique experience.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

Upon booking your ticket, you’ll receive confirmation and instructions on where and when to arrive. The TaipeiEYE Theatre holds regular performances, making it easy to find a date that fits your schedule.

The experience is divided into two parts: the pre-show and the opera performance. The pre-show allows you to witness the preparation ritual of the actors, showcasing their unique costumes and make-up application, lasting approximately 30 minutes. Following the pre-show, enjoy a 1-hour opera performance that celebrates the richness of Chinese history through captivating storytelling, music, and acrobatics.
