Details of the Day Trip

Upon your arrival at the cruise port of Puerto Montt, our team will be ready to welcome you. Once everyone is assembled, we'll hop into our vehicle and begin our journey northeast. Be sure to have your camera handy to capture the enchanting scenery along the way!

We will start with a brief tour through the heart of Puerto Montt, where we’ll pass by the Plaza de Armas and visit its remarkable wooden cathedral. This historical site, built in 1856, features native larch pillars and a striking copper dome, making it the oldest cathedral in Chile.

Continuing our journey, we will drive alongside Lake Llanquihue, the second-largest lake in Chile. As we travel for approximately 1.5 hours, you will witness lush green meadows, traditional tiled houses, and gentle hills.

Upon reaching the Vicente Pérez Rosales National Park, prepare to discover the natural wonder of the Petrohué Waterfalls. Afoot, we'll walk along trails through the enchanting myrtle and coihue forests until we arrive at these stunning waterfalls formed by the river of the same name. Weather permitting, you will have the chance to see the majestic Osorno Volcano rise in the distance.

If conditions allow, we will embark on a 30-minute hike towards the Osorno Volcano viewpoint, standing at an impressive 3,937 ft (1,200 m). There, you’ll be rewarded with breathtaking views of the surrounding rivers, lakes, and the distant volcanoes of Calbuco and Puntiagudo. During this half-hour, we will share insights about the notable eruptions of the Osorno Volcano, often referred to as the "Chilean Fuji" due to its perfectly conical shape.

In the event that the weather does not cooperate, we will forgo the ascent to the viewpoint, giving you additional time to explore the Petrohué Waterfalls and capture the beauty of the site through your lens.

Next, we will make our way to Puerto Varas, a charming town located about 45 minutes away. Here, we will take a 30-minute break to wander through this city that beautifully blends Bavarian charm with a Chilean essence. Experience the architectural echoes of German influence, the vibrant flower gardens, and the inviting aromas of traditional bakeries.

As our day comes to a close, we will return to the cruise port of Puerto Montt, concluding this enriching experience after a total of 6 hours.
