San Gimignano Private Tour
Description
Are you ready to immerse yourself in the enchanting landscapes of Tuscany? During this exclusive tour of San Gimignano, you will delve into the rich history and significant landmarks of this medieval settlement recognized as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
Private Tour of San Gimignano
At your designated time, you’ll rendezvous with your guide at Porta San Giovanni, a key gateway within the fortifications of San Gimignano. We’ll take a brief pause to appreciate this stunning 13th-century structure before embarking on a personalized exploration of the historic core of this picturesque Tuscan town.
Our first stop will be the Piazza della Cisterna, the lively heart of San Gimignano and its primary commercial hub since ancient times. Here, you will glimpse some of the iconic tower houses, which have stood as testament to the prestige of the town's affluent families over the centuries. Your knowledgeable guide will share engaging tales of the notable events that unfolded in this area.
As we proceed, you will have the opportunity to view the exterior of the Palazzo Comunale, which holds a fascinating link to the renowned Florentine poet Dante Alighieri. We will also uncover intriguing insights as we admire the façade of the Collegiate Church of Santa Maria Assunta, accompanied by the impressive Torre Grossa, the tallest tower in San Gimignano.
Next, we’ll stroll along the narrow, cobbled streets, passing the Church of Sant'Agostino and various artisan shops until we reach the Rocca Montestaffoli, a historic 14th-century fortress that dominates the landscape. Here, you will visit the Vernaccia wine museum, unveiling the mysteries behind this esteemed San Gimignano Appellation of Origin.
This enlightening private tour will conclude after 2 hours of exploration as we return to our initial meeting point.
