Andean Condor Observation and Puracé National Park Tour
We will begin our journey with a pickup from your hotel in Silvia at 6:40 am, followed by a scenic bus ride lasting about two and a half hours to reach the Puracé National Natural Park.
Upon arriving at this remarkable destination, situated over 3400 meters (11155 feet) above sea level, we will engage in a bird-watching session, keeping vigilant for the iconic Andean condor. This impressive bird is recognized as one of the largest flying species worldwide. Throughout this experience, we will share fascinating insights about this endangered bird, which is prominent in the emblems of Colombia, Ecuador, Chile, and Bolivia.
After spending an hour soaking in the marvel of the Andean condor's flight, we will continue to uncover the diverse landscapes within Puracé National Park. Our exploration will lead us to the valley of frailejones, a unique plant found in the páramos ecosystem, with around 90 different species thriving in the country!
Our itinerary will also include visits to the waterfall of the Bedón river, the picturesque Andulbio lagoon, and a charming wishing well. Here, you can appreciate the stunning clarity of the waters and capture countless photos of these remarkable natural features.
To round off the day, we'll take a leisurely trip to the thermal baths of San Juan, where a series of naturally heated pools and streams await, showcasing a fascinating palette of grey, turquoise, pink, and green hues. You will discover the secrets behind these vibrant colors!
Before concluding our adventure and heading back to Silvia, we will indulge in a delightful lunch featuring a choice of fish, grilled meat, or chicken, accompanied by various side dishes such as rice, salad, or 'patacones' (twice-fried plantain chips), along with a beverage.
Once we have recharged, we will return to the bus to conclude our journey, ensuring you arrive back at your hotel feeling invigorated and enriched from a day well spent.
