Once owned by the jurist Pierre Mondot de la Marthonie in 1510, the castle was transformed from a defensive stronghold to an elegant Renaissance residence.

As you navigate the rooms of Château de Puyguilhem, you'll encounter the exquisite decor envisioned by Pierre Mondot de la Marthonie, who had strong ties to Louise of Savoy, the mother of King Francis I. In 1515, he became the inaugural president of the Parliament of Paris, an important milestone in the annals of French history.

Your ticket grants access to several rooms within the château, including the kitchens and bedrooms where prominent figures from Renaissance France once rested. Be sure to admire the stunning panoramic views of Villars from the castle's windows.

Opening Hours

Château de Puyguilhem is open to visitors during the following times:

• October 1 to March 31: Wednesday to Sunday from 10 am to 12:30 pm and 2 pm to 5:30 pm
• April 1 to 30: Tuesday to Sunday from 10 am to 12:30 pm and 2 pm to 5:30 pm
• May 2 to August 31: Monday to Sunday from 10 am to 12:30 pm and 2 pm to 6:30 pm
• September 1 to 30: Tuesday to Sunday from 10 am to 12:30 pm and 2 pm to 5:30 pm

Last admission is granted exactly 45 minutes before the closing hour.

On December 24 and 31, the closing hour is set for 4 pm.

Admission Policies

The following individuals can experience complimentary admission to Château de Puyguilhem:

• Youth from the European Union aged 18 to 25
• Children under 18, regardless of nationality
• Unemployed individuals, disabled persons with one companion, journalists, architecture students, tourism professionals, as well as military, police, and other state security personnel.

Moreover, entry is free for all on the first Sunday of each month between January 1 and March 31, and from November 1 to December 31. It’s also complimentary during the third weekend of September.
