Salvajina Reservoir Excursion

The adventure begins at 8 am with a pickup from your hotel in Popayán, followed by a scenic drive heading north toward the Salvajina Reservoir, positioned within the Cauca River basin.

After a two-and-a-half-hour journey, we will reach our destination and begin exploring the area surrounding this remarkable hydroelectric facility. Our first stop will be the Salvajina waterfall, where we will ascend to a viewpoint that offers stunning vistas of the reservoir, perfect for photography.

Next, we will embark on a boat ride around the dam, allowing us to appreciate the reservoir from a distinct angle. Your guide will provide insights into its construction and discuss the significance of the site for the local indigenous communities residing in the Cauca region.

After returning to shore, we’ll enjoy a traditional meal featuring fish, chicken, or grilled meat. To conclude our time at the reservoir, you will have free time for swimming in its inviting pool.

At around 5 pm, we will reconvene and begin our journey back to Popayán, concluding our excursion at approximately 7 pm.
