Located adjacent to the renowned Grotte du Grand Roc, the Laugerie-Basse site is not classified as a cave; rather, it serves as a rock shelter, a unique natural haven found on the right bank of the Vézère River.

With your ticket, you can navigate through the shelter at your leisure. This location was occupied by humans during the Upper Paleolithic era. Visitors can engage with a 3D visual display, explore a reconstructed prehistoric community, and interact with numerous informative panels.

Your experience will be enriched by guiding brochures, providing insights into the history of this natural haven. The site was inhabited approximately 15,000 to 10,000 years ago, leaving a notable archaeological legacy, with around 500 archaeological artifacts having been discovered here.

The Laugerie-Basse archaeological site welcomes visitors during the following hours:
