Tour Overview

At the arranged time, we will collect you from your accommodation and embark on an exciting adventure in the Tatacoa Desert, which is actually classified as a tropical dry forest and is the second driest area in Colombia.

Our first stop will be in the village of La Victoria, where you will join a fossil workshop led by local youth dedicated to conserving the paleontological heritage of their surroundings.

Throughout this workshop, you will discover how to identify fossils, learn about the various types of fossilization, and understand the extraction process using a method known as enchaquetada ("jacketed extraction"). You will also learn how to safeguard these specimens for further examination.

Following this enriching experience, you can look forward to a tasty traditional lunch. Post-lunch, we will visit the Tatacoa Natural History Museum.

During our guided exploration of the museum, you will have the opportunity to view an array of fossil collections uncovered in this significant paleontological site throughout the years. The experience is sure to captivate you!

In conclusion, we will transport you back to the initial meeting point, finalizing our activity roughly between 10 and 12 hours after departure.
