After meeting at your accommodation in Haputale, we will set off to visit one of the world’s most acclaimed tea estates!
The tradition of tea cultivation in Sri Lanka dates back over two centuries. As we navigate through the plantations, you'll gain insights into the significance of tea in the nation’s culture. We will board the tuk-tuk and journey to our destination, enveloped by a stunning green landscape.
Strolling through the Lipton black tea fields, we'll observe the workers harvesting the tea leaves, and you will even have the chance to pick some yourself! To conclude the tour, we'll enjoy a well-deserved snack break before heading back to your hotel.
Tuk Tuk Tour + Cooking Class (7 hours)
If you wish to indulge in the local cuisine while exploring the tea estates, this option is tailored for you! In addition to the previously outlined itinerary, we’ll ride the tuk-tuk to a private residence to discover how to cook traditional dishes from Haputale.
Alongside the host, we will create a complete meal using fresh local ingredients. The highlight? After preparing the dishes, we'll enjoy tasting the culinary creations!
Tuk Tuk Tour + Tea Factory Visit (7 hours)
Eager to learn even more about the treasures of Haputale? This package will take you beyond the Lipton estates to also tour a tea factory!
Following our exploration of the tea fields, we’ll embark on a 3-mile (5 km) walk to the factory, where we'll uncover the intricate process of tea production!
To wrap up the day, we’ll hike another 3 miles (5 km) back and enjoy a light picnic lunch before returning to your hotel.
