Tour of Nymphenburg Palace & Carriage Museum
Description
If you have a passion for the heritage of Bavarian royalty, this Nymphenburg Palace tour is perfect for you! Are you ready to delve into a realm of luxury and grandeur?
Tour Information
Welcome, enthusiasts of history! At the scheduled time, we will gather at Nördliche Auffahrtsallee to embark on a memorable guided experience at Nymphenburg Palace, one of Germany's most lavish landmarks. Would you like to discover how Bavarian kings once spent their summer seasons here?
As we stroll through the beautifully landscaped front garden, we will arrive at the impressive entrance of the palace, showcasing the Rococo and Baroque architectural styles typical of this summer retreat. The best part? This experience includes priority access tickets!
Inside, we will explore over 30 splendid rooms of the palace, discovering the richly decorated architecture and the history of the Wittelsbach dynasty, the royal lineage that frequented this location. Did you know that this palace was the birthplace of King Ludwig II of Bavaria?
One of the highlights will undoubtedly be the Great Gallery of Beauties, commissioned by Maximilian II Emanuel around 1720. This stunning hall features 36 portraits of women celebrated for their beauty, charm, or social standing, all crafted by the court artist of the era, Martin van Meytens. These portraits are truly a sight to behold!
We will also visit the notable Coat of Arms Chamber, or the Wappenkammer, where we will learn about its historical ceremonial uses and the prominent families that convened here. Additionally, we’ll admire the Queen's Apartments, adorned with exquisite tapestries and elegant mirrors, along with the Palace Chapel, featuring its intricate stucco designs and opulent altar.
Moreover, our journey will take us to the Carriage Museum, one of the palace complex's most fascinating areas. Here, you can explore one of the largest collections of royal carriages in the world. Witness the coaches and sleighs utilized by Bavarian rulers, including the original coronation carriage of Emperor Karl VII. It’s an extraordinary experience!
After a thorough exploration lasting two hours, our visit to the Nymphenburg Palace will conclude.
