Tour Overview

Your journey begins with a convenient pickup from your accommodation in Cluj, followed by a scenic route to the Turda Salt Mine, a remarkable highlight of the Transylvania area. Are you curious about its legendary status? Together we will discover the answer!

After approximately 40 minutes, we will arrive at this extraordinary salt mine situated in Turda, Romania. Here, we'll step into a vast natural museum crafted entirely from salt. This significant site once functioned as an air-raid shelter during World War II and has since been transformed into a museum featuring a one-of-a-kind amusement park.

During our exploration, we will traverse various tunnels within the mine, walking along an impressive network of over 45 km² (17 mi²) of passageways while admiring the grandiose chambers that rival medieval cathedrals in their expansiveness. We will traverse the historic Franz Josef Gallery from the 19th century and the unique octagonal Crivac room, which houses the machinery of the salt mine.

The highlight of the visit is certainly the enchanting Rudolf Mine, where a whimsical amusement park awaits amid a stunning backdrop.

At the conclusion of our tour, you will have 30 minutes of leisure time to further explore the Turda Salt Mine at your own rhythm. Options include visiting the breathtaking 120 m (393 ft) wide lake and enjoying a boat ride on its serene waters or relishing the attractions of the mine's amusement park.

After our time here, we will regroup and return to Cluj, concluding our adventure after a total of four hours.

Amusement Park within the Turda Salt Mine

Within the confines of the Turda Salt Mine, a charming amusement park and a lake await your discovery. During your 30 minutes of free time, you can partake in various activities. Please note that entry to the attractions is not part of the tour and requires separate payment at the ticket office.
