Uyuni Salt Flat Day Trip
Description
Immerse yourself in a stunning natural environment during a day excursion to the Uyuni salt flats departing from Potosí. Engage in a distinctive adventure that will create lasting memories!
Details of the Day Trip
We will commence our journey at the scheduled time from the previous bus terminal located on Avenida Universitaria, setting off towards one of Bolivia's most famed attractions: the Salar de Uyuni salt flats.
Upon our arrival at the Uyuni bus station, we will proceed to board an off-road vehicle, which will transport us directly to the remarkable Uyuni salt flats.
Our adventure begins with a visit to the renowned Uyuni train cemetery, where remnants of the early 19th-century railways that traversed Bolivia can be observed.
The next destination will be Colchani, recognized as the gateway to the Uyuni salt flats. Here, we will witness the intriguing salt eyes, natural openings through which groundwater reaches the surface, heated by geothermal activity.
Continuing our journey, we will stop at the Playa Blanca hotel, a unique structure constructed entirely from salt blocks. This location features distinct facilities including a museum and a restaurant that add to its charm.
At noon, a satisfying lunch made with local seasonal ingredients will be provided to energize us for the rest of the day. Following this, we will visit Plaza de las Banderas, notable for its varied flagpoles displaying flags from nations worldwide. Remember to bring your own flag to commemorate your visit!
Our final stop will be Incahuasi Island, located in the center of the salt flat. Here, we will encounter towering cacti that can grow up to 6 meters (20 feet) high, alongside fascinating petrified coral formations. This offers an excellent opportunity for capturing some memorable photographs!
Concluding our adventure, we will return to the Uyuni bus station before embarking on our journey back to Potosí, with an expected arrival around midnight, wrapping up a 19.5-hour experience filled with exploration.
