Are you ready to conquer one of El Salvador's highest elevations? If your answer is yes, we will gather at the designated time at the Campo Bello Hotel in Santa Ana. Following a brief introduction, we will proceed to the entry point of the trail leading to the summit of the Santa Ana volcano. Let’s embark on this hiking adventure!

The trek will commence on the El Peñón trail and will be a steady climb lasting approximately 2 hours. Right from the beginning, we will traverse through the varied microclimates at the base of the volcano, which is also referred to as Ilamatepec. Initially, we will find ourselves amidst the cloud forest of Santa Ana, transitioning to drier terrains as we ascend.

Throughout the journey, we will share insights about the park’s rich biodiversity. Additionally, we will pause at viewpoints, where you can take in stunning panoramic images of the Izalco volcano, Cerro Verde, and the Lake Coatepeque. This experience will allow us to appreciate the captivating beauty of nature in western El Salvador.

Before you know it, we will arrive at the volcano's peak. Prepare to be mesmerized by its magnificent turquoise lagoon! We'll be at an elevation of over 2000 meters (6561 ft) above sea level. The altitude change will certainly be noticeable, and you will savor the invigorating air as we bask in the achievement of reaching the summit.

After soaking in this scenic wonder, we will begin our descent back to our initial gathering point. There, a well-deserved snack awaits to round off our day on a fulfilling note.
