Sherry, horses, flamenco... Discover the cultural heritage of Jerez de la Frontera on this guided walking tour of the streets, squares, palaces and churches that pay testament to the city's rich historic legacy.
Jerez de la Frontera Walking Tour
Meet your local English-speaking guide in the heart of the Andalusian city of Jerez de la Frontera; more specifically in Arenal Square, where you'll embark on your two-hour route amongst the vibrant orange trees and sparkling fountains of the city centre.
Not far from Arenal Square, you'll reach San Miguel Church which has a tower that's the highest point in the city. We'll admire the façade of this 15th-century church and then stroll through the beautiful Alameda Vieja Park.
The guide will then take us to the outside of the Alcazar of Jerez, a Moorish palace-fortress built by the Almohad Caliphs of Southern Spain as a place of residence, and to host kings and other distinguished guests. After admiring the façade of this Almohad building, we'll go to the Cathedral. While there, we'll discuss the history behind this place of worship that perfectly combines Gothic, Baroque and Neoclassical styles.
Our route will also take us past the façades of symbolic places such as the Palace of the Counts of Puerto Hermoso, the Cabildo Viejo and the Church of San Dionisio.
Your tour will come to an end after two hours.
Guided Tour of Jerez + Traditional Tabanco (Sherry Bar)
Would you like to make your tour even more memorable? If so, consider adding a visit to one of Jerez’s most traditional tabancos. These authentic local taverns capture the true essence of Jerez. Here, you'll have the chance to savor two of the region's signature wines, crafted from the renowned Palomino grape—a perfect way to conclude your visit.
