Yanagawa River Canoe Ride + Lunch

On this canoe journey along the Yanagawa River, you will explore the fascinating area often referred to as the Venice of Japan. As we navigate the canals of this historic feudal city, you will be surrounded by breathtaking views and intriguing local customs. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to sample grilled eel, a regional delicacy.

Tour Details

We will convene at the designated time at Lion Square in Mitsukoshi. From there, we will board a train at Tenjin Station, located just a short walk away, to reach Yanagawa Station.

This charming city, known as the Venice of Japan, boasts an impressive 60 kilometres (37 miles) of interconnected canals, part of a sophisticated water management system established over 400 years ago for the protection and sustainability of its water resources.

Upon our arrival in Yanagawa, following a scenic 50-minute train ride, we will embark on a traditional boat. The skilled boatman will guide us through the waterways while serenading us with traditional songs. Sit back, unwind, and take in the distinctive perspective of this historic feudal city.

After our delightful canoe ride, we will return to land and head to a local restaurant in Yanagawa to savor a regional specialty. Here, you will enjoy a lunch featuring grilled eel, a dish celebrated for its flavorful taste and time-honored preparation. Set against the backdrop of the area's rural landscape, this meal promises to be an unforgettable culinary experience!

Following lunch, we will board the train back to Fukuoka, anticipating our arrival at Tenjin Station after approximately 6.5 hours of exploration.
