Zaanse Schans & Giethoorn Day Trip

Day Trip Details

We will meet at the DoubleTree by Hilton Amsterdam Centraal Station to start our day trip to Zaanse Schans, an open-air museum representing Dutch life in the 18th and 19th centuries. After a 30-minute journey, we will stop at a clog factory for a demonstration of traditional wooden shoe making.

Next, we will visit a factory to learn about the production of Dutch cheese and enjoy a tasting. We will also explore various museums and admire the authentic architecture in the region. A photo stop at the iconic windmills will be included.

After 2 hours in Zaanse Schans, we will proceed to Giethoorn, a scenic village 1.5 hours away. The guide will share insights on Dutch history and the landscapes we pass, including the country's largest artificial lake.

Upon arrival at Giethoorn, you will have an hour of free time to eat. We will then regroup for a boat trip along the charming canals of Giethoorn. During the hour-long sail, we will enjoy the village's beautiful houses, narrow canals, and cobbled streets.

You will have additional free time to explore Giethoorn before we begin our return journey to Amsterdam, arriving at the starting point after a total of 9 hours.
