Day Trip Overview

We will pick you up at your designated time from your hotel in Djerba to kick off this intriguing day journey into Southern Tunisia. The adventure awaits!

Your experience begins with a scenic 2-hour drive along the historic Roman path leading to Tataouine, an extraordinary area nestled in the Tunisian desert. En route, we’ll make a quick stop at the captivating Chahbania Salt Lake, a viewpoint famed for its breathtaking beauty and vibrant hues, ideal for memorable photographs.

Upon arriving in Tataouine, we will spend approximately 1 to 2 hours delving into its rich history, heavily influenced by a former penal colony established by the French. At the local market, the fragrant array of spices will delight your senses, and magnificent traditional structures once serving as community granaries await exploration.

Our journey will then take us to Chenini, a charming village perched atop a mountainside. Following a 20-minute drive, you will encounter the area's distinctive troglodyte dwellings, which remain inhabited. Here, we’ll visit an ancient mosque that provides a glimpse into the area’s rich, millennia-spanning history.

After an hour in Chenini, we’ll pause for lunch at a local eatery, where you can savor the authentic tastes of the region, including Tunisian pastries and couscous. Once recharged, our exploration will continue through the winding streets of the village, where we will delve into the Berber culture at the well-preserved Ksar Ouled Soltan, a fortified granary.

As we return to Djerba, we will make one last 30-minute stop at Ksar Hadada, a notable site that served as a filming location for Star Wars.

After a comprehensive 8-hour journey, we'll conclude our day by returning you to your hotel.
