Blarney Castle, Rock of Cashel & Cahir Castle Day Exploration
We will commence our adventure in the morning, gathering in Dublin before heading southward. En route, we'll traverse the historic expanse known as The Curragh, an open field filled with rich stories and currently a renowned site for horse training, notably at the Irish National Stud's Home. Additionally, we'll catch sight of the majestic Galtee Mountains.
Approximately three hours into our journey, we will arrive at the iconic Rock of Cashel, celebrated as one of Ireland's Seven Wonders. This remarkable site features an array of 12th-century structures. We'll take the time to explore the stunning High Cross, Romanesque Chapel, Gothic Cathedral, and the impressive Round Tower, all while wandering through the verdant grounds adorned with standing crosses.
Following this, we will proceed to Blarney Castle, considered one of Ireland's most treasured landmarks. This medieval stronghold is famed for the renowned Stone of Eloquence, or Blarney Stone, whose kiss is said to bestow the "gift of the gab." You will have ample opportunity to explore the castle’s ruins and expansive grounds, surrounded by exquisite gardens and woodlands.
Our final destination will be Cahir Castle, situated in County Tipperary on a rocky island in the River Suir. This castle stands as one of Ireland's most well-preserved historical sites, retaining much of its 13th-century architecture. Visitors can participate in a guided tour that unravels the castle’s intriguing past.
Throughout this journey, you will marvel at scenic views of two distinct mountain ranges. One such range, the Knockmealdown Mountains, is renowned due to its mention in the Irish folk song Kitty Borne O'Brien.
In the evening, we will return to Dublin, where you will be dropped off at 7 pm at Dame Street in the heart of the city.
