Glendalough, Wicklow & Kilkenny Day Trip
Description
Explore Ireland's luscious green landscapes on this tour to the Glendalough valley, where St. Kevin founded a monastery in the 6th Century, as well as Wicklow and Kilkenny.
Glendalough, Wicklow & Kilkenny Day Trip
At 8 am, we'll set off from Dublin City Gallery and head to the Wicklow Mountains. During the drive in an air-conditioned bus, you'll look out at the breathtaking scenery chosen for Hollywood blockbusters such as P.S. I Love You and Braveheart. We'll make a 10-minute stop so you can take some photos of the scenery.
Once we arrive at Glendalough, our first stop of the day, you'll have 2 hours to explore the area. This place boasts the Glendalough Monastic Site, which dates back to the 10th century. You can also admire the lakes and waterfalls in the area, which make this place one of the most spectacular green spaces in Ireland.
After exploring Glendalough, you'll have a truly unique experience. We'll observe a local farmer and his trusted sheepdog using only whistle commands to round up a herd of sheep. If we're lucky, we might get to see a puppy in training and a few lambs on show.
Our next stop will be the charming village of Kilkenny. You'll spend 2 hours walking through its cobbled streets and visiting castles in what was once Ireland's medieval capital in the 11th century. In addition, you can visit the Black Abbey and the Cathedral of Saint Canice, which has an iconic round tower.
Following a jam-packed day exploring Ireland's beauty and heritage, it'll be time to return to Dublin by bus, where we'll arrive between 6 pm and 6:30 pm.
