Embark on a captivating day excursion to Rano Raraku, Ahu Tongariki, and Anakena, where you will delve into the rich archaeological heritage of Easter Island encompassing its southern and eastern regions. Details of the Day Excursion

Your journey will commence with a pickup from your accommodation in Hanga Roa, from where we will set off towards the unique attractions along the southern coastline of Easter Island. Are you prepared to unveil the hidden treasures of the Rapa Nui National Park? Let’s begin!

The first destination will be Vaihu and Ahu Hanga Te'e. Here, you will encounter an Ahu stone platform adorned with toppled moai, silent reminders of historical disputes that once divided the island’s inhabitants. You will also find a life-size replica of a traditional Rapa Nui village, providing insight into their communal way of life.

Next, we will proceed to Akahanga, a sacred site believed to be the resting place of the notable king Hotu Matu'a. This revered location offers a deeper understanding of the spiritual practices of the Rapa Nui people.

The exploration continues along the coast, leading us to Rano Raraku, the primary quarry where numerous moai were crafted. Here, you will enjoy a scenic hike lasting around 1 hour and 15 minutes amidst unfinished sculptures  scattered on the volcano’s slopes. Did you know that some of these moai reach heights of over 32 feet (10 meters)?

After our visit, we head to Ahu Tongariki, renowned as the island’s most impressive ceremonial platform, featuring 15 grand moai that have been meticulously restored. This site is also home to the fascinating Traveling Moai, a statue that was once removed from the island but later returned.

Our next highlight is Ahu Te Pito Kura, where you will find the largest moai ever successfully transported. Adjacent to this remarkable statue is a captivating stone known as “the center of the world.” Come and feel the unique energy it emanates!

As we near the end of our journey, we'll arrive at Anakena Beach, an exquisite bay featuring pristine white sands and turquoise waters. Here, you will have the opportunity to relax beneath palm trees, accompanied by the moai that watch over this exceptional spot in the Pacific. Additionally, we will explore the archaeological sites of Ahu Nau Nau and Ahu Ature Huke, where the well-preserved statues will surely impress.

During our adventure, a break of 1 hour will be allotted for you to enjoy lunch at your leisure. The location for this stop will either be at Rano Raraku or Anakena, contingent upon the weather and the group’s preferences. If you prefer a picnic, remember to bring your own food; alternatively, you may opt for local cuisine at a nearby restaurant.

Concluding the day, we will journey back to Hanga Roa, passing through the lush landscapes of Vaitea. We will return to your hotel approximately 7 to 8 hours after the initial pickup.
