Tour Itinerary: What Awaits You
Commencing in Edinburgh, our journey towards Loch Ness unfolds along a picturesque route that showcases the magnificent Stirling Castle. Our first pause is at Kilmahog, located in the highlands; this stop provides an excellent opportunity for refreshments and the possibility of spotting a Highland "coo" or cow, depending on the season. Next, we travel through the enchanting regions associated with Clans MacGregor and Campbell, known traditionally as Rob Roy Country. We will navigate the dramatic terrains of Rannoch Moor and the Black Mount until we reach Glencoe, famous for its strong historical ties to the tragic massacre of the Clan MacDonald in 1692. During our time here, we will take a leisurely stroll to enjoy the atmosphere and capture memorable photos.
Following our time in Glencoe, we will drive alongside Loch Linnhe and stop in the Fort William area for lunch. The adventure continues through the striking Great Glen, passing beneath Ben Nevis, the tallest peak in Britain. As we head onwards, we’ll traverse the charming village of Fort Augustus before reaching Urquhart Castle. Visitors have the choice of taking a ferry to explore the castle or moving ahead to Clansman Hotel, where you will have approximately an hour to relax or explore before heading back to Edinburgh. At the hotel, participate in the Donald Fraser – Illicit Whisky Experience, featuring a film on the history of illicit whisky distillation paired with a tasting of the Donald Fraser blend. Alternatively, stroll along Old Coffin Road from the car park, or enjoy a one-hour round-trip Loch Ness cruise for stunning views of the legendary Urquhart Castle.
As we make our return to Edinburgh, our route will take us through the stunning Cairngorms National Park and picturesque woodlands of Perthshire, including the enchanting Forest of Atholl.
Before concluding our journey in Edinburgh, we'll make a brief stop in the scenic Victorian-era town of Pitlochry. The adventure will end back at the original departure point after a fulfilling duration of 12.5 hours.
Loch Ness Cruise
Loch Ness measures 24 miles (39 km) in length and plunges over 700 feet (213 meters) at its deepest point. It is famously associated with the elusive Nessie, the Loch Ness monster. During our visit to the loch, you will have the chance to join an engaging cruise, allowing you to search for Nessie while discovering the captivating traits of this legendary body of water.
