Description
Enhance your experience in Edinburgh by exploring serene spots with this day trip to St. Andrews and the fishing villages of Fife. Discover the renowned golf town and charming coastal communities.
St. Andrews & Fife's Fishing Villages Day Trip
The adventure begins at 9 am, as we set off from the designated meeting point in Edinburgh, crossing the iconic Forth Bridge on our way to Fife. Our journey takes us through the picturesque village of Aberdour, before continuing towards the East Neuk of Fife. This coastal region is a true Scottish treasure, where the quaint harbours once served as the hub for the East coast’s fishing industry.
Along the scenic route through this enchanting part of Fife, we will pause in Anstruther, home to the insightful Scottish Fisheries Museum. From there, our path will lead us to the charming villages of Pittenweem, Crail, and St. Monans, which historically played significant roles in the local fishing trade.
Next, we venture into St. Andrews, where you will have three hours of leisure time to enjoy lunch and explore the lovely cobblestone pathways and medieval architecture. Here, you can visit the site where Prince William and Kate Middleton first crossed paths, admire the grand cathedral, and take in the views of the iconic golf course, considered the oldest in Scotland.
Once our time in St. Andrews is complete, we will journey back to Edinburgh. Our return route will take us through the picturesque Lomond hills, with a stop in the charming village of Falkland, known for its appearance in the Outlander series. As we make our way toward Loch Leven, you’ll recognize a filming location utilized in the story of Mary Queen of Scots. Our final stop before reaching Edinburgh will be South Queensferry.
We expect to arrive back in Edinburgh by 5:45 pm.
