Stirling, The Kelpies, Loch Lomond & Trossachs National Park Day Trip
Description
Embark on a captivating journey through western Scotland, experiencing the essence of Highland culture as you visit one of its most beautiful lochs, explore the historic city of Stirling, and delve into the enchanting Trossachs region, a land steeped in tales of William Wallace and Rob Roy.
Tour Details
Setting off from Edinburgh, our adventure kicks off at the Kelpies, the world's tallest horse sculptures, standing proudly at 98 feet (30 meters). These magnificent structures are inspired by mythical beings from Scottish legend and capture the imagination of all who behold them.
Next, we journey westward to the scenic banks of Loch Lomond, renowned for its breathtaking beauty and size as one of Scotland's largest lochs. Upon arrival, feel free to join an hour-long boat cruise that showcases stunning views of the loch's islands and the majestic mountains encircling it.
Continuing our expedition, we will traverse Trossachs National Park, often referred to as 'the Highlands in Miniature' due to its dense array of lochs, towering hills, and lush forests. This scenic park is also famously associated with the legendary figure, Rob Roy MacGregor. Enjoy ample time to explore this picturesque area before we break for lunch in a charming village that is a true reflection of the enchanting surroundings.
Following our meal, we will pass through the town of Callander, cruising by the storied Doune Castle, and proceed to our final destination: Stirling Castle. This pivotal fortress, perched atop volcanic rock, offers stunning panoramic views of the landscape. During your time here, you will have the opportunity to visit the castle and uncover the fascinating stories of notable historical personas such as William Wallace, Robert the Bruce, and Mary Queen of Scots, before we make our way back to Edinburgh.
