Edmonton Bike Tour
Description
On this Edmonton bike tour, you will have the opportunity to explore the city's cultural districts, parks, and landmarks while uncovering its rich history and narratives. It’s an ideal blend of cycling and sightseeing!
Tour Overview
We will commence our adventure at the Edmonton City Centre, where we’ll mount our bikes and prepare to see the city through an energetic lens. Let the journey begin!
Our first stop will be the Alberta Legislature Building, a distinguished symbol of the province. As we wander through its beautiful gardens, we will delve into the city’s early history and the striking Beaux-Arts design that characterizes this magnificent structure.
Next, we will pedal alongside the North Saskatchewan River, navigating the largest urban river valley on the continent. Here, you will discover the significance of this river as a vital connector for both Indigenous and European trade networks.
We will then arrive at the historic grounds of the University of Alberta, celebrated for its diverse architectural styles and academic contributions. From there, we’ll make our way to Old Strathcona, the city's vibrant independent sector, where we will discuss the railway expansion and its influence on the district's unique identity.
We’ll also immerse ourselves in the natural splendor of Mill Creek Ravine Park, an urban sanctuary that links various neighborhoods while highlighting eco-friendly city development.
As we head back towards downtown, we will pause to admire the striking glass pyramids of the Muttart Conservatory, a remarkable architectural highlight from the 1970s. Following this, we will cycle to the Chinese Garden, a tranquil setting that pays homage to the heritage of the local Chinese community.
Our tour will culminate at Sir Winston Churchill Square, a vibrant space in the heart of Edmonton, surrounded by dynamic public art and museums.
After approximately 2.5 to 3 hours of exploration by bicycle, we will return to our starting point to wrap up the tour.
