Los Haitises National Park Quad & Kayak Day Trip

Experience one of the Dominican Republic’s key natural landscapes with this kayaking and quad adventure through Los Haitises National Park. It's an exceptional opportunity to navigate the mangroves of the Samaná Peninsula!

Day Trip Overview

At the appointed time, we will gather at the Santorino restaurant, conveniently located near the main port of Samaná, to commence an exciting journey into Los Haitises National Park, one of the Dominican Republic’s most impressive protected reserves.

Our adventure begins as we board a ferry headed for Sabana de la Mar. After approximately an hour on the water, we’ll reach the mainland, ushering in one of the day's highlights. Are you ready to navigate the park on a quad? We'll mount these vehicles to relish the breathtaking scenery that characterizes the area.

Our route leads us to the Caño Hondo port, where we’ll discover natural pools embraced by lush mangroves that are home to numerous birds, including pelicans and frigatebirds. From this location, we will explore the park by paddling along the Caño Hondo River. Here, we can board kayaks and glide through the mangrove ecosystems, providing an ideal moment to immerse ourselves in nature!

Upon completing two hours of kayaking, we will return to the port and make our way to a local restaurant for a delightful traditional Dominican lunch immersed in nature’s allure.

Rejuvenated, you will then enjoy an hour and a half of leisure time to swim and unwind in the natural pools of Caño Hondo. This also presents a wonderful chance to explore the nearby trails and fully appreciate this stunning area of the Samaná Peninsula.

To conclude our day, we will hop back onto our quads and return to Sabana de la Mar, where we will once again board the ferry for our return trip to Samaná. After an enriching nine-hour experience, we’ll part ways back at the starting point.
