Tour Overview
Our adventure commences with a convenient pickup from your accommodation in Esquel at the pre-arranged hour. Once all participants are assembled, we will journey to the city’s core, where the unique essence of Esquel is revealed through its distinct architecture and the rhythm of local life, offering a glimpse into its historical and contemporary narrative.
Our initial stop will take us to San Martín Square, greeted by the presence of the Sundial. In this tranquil spot, there are no ticking hands, only the soft sunlight marking the serene flow of life in Esquel.
Just a short distance away lies School No. 76, the city’s oldest educational institution. We will then proceed to Casa Los Vascos, the first shop in the area, where we can envision the pioneering spirit as they entered through its wooden doors seeking provisions and tools for their homesteads.
Moving beyond the city center, we embrace the Andean terrain while making our way to the Mountain Activity Center at La Hoya Hill, situated just 13 km (8 mi) from our starting point. The meandering road will unveil views of glacial valleys, presenting a picturesque panorama.
Upon reaching the viewpoint marked by the Esquel sign, we will pause for a cherished photo opportunity against the backdrop of the cityscape and the majestic mountain range.
Next, we’ll venture into the Laguna La Zeta Urban Nature Reserve, located mere minutes from the city center. Here, we’ll embark on a stroll towards the lake, surrounded by captivating views of the city framed by forests of lengas, cypresses, and ñires. With a bit of luck and patience, we may observe coscorobas, cauquenes, and even bandurrias gracefully moving about, providing a perfect moment to appreciate the rich biodiversity of Patagonia!
After an enriching journey of 3.5 hours filled with history and stunning landscapes, we will conclude our tour and return you to your hotel in Esquel.
