Fez Free Tour
Description
Have you just arrived in Fez and want to explore its key attractions? This complimentary tour offers an ideal opportunity to uncover the captivating tourist highlights of this stunning Moroccan city.
Tour Overview
At the designated meeting time, we will gather at the main entrance of Lycée Moulay Idriss. Over the course of three hours, we will navigate the vibrant streets of this historic Moroccan city, taking in the ancient sites of the Medina in Fez.
Close to our starting point, we will encounter the renowned Bab Bou Jeloud Gate, often referred to as 'the Blue Gate'. This impressive structure serves as the primary entryway to the Medina -the traditional heart of the city-. After that, we'll stroll through the two bustling thoroughfares of Fez: Talaa Kebira and Talaa Seghira.
As we marvel at the vibrant stalls lining both streets, we will delve into the city's rich history. Additionally, during our walk, we'll visit either the Al-Attarine Madrasa or the Bou Inania Madrasa, depending on their availability that day. Are you curious about the functions of these historic sites? We'll uncover their stories on the tour!
Our next stop will be the Funduq al-Najjariyyin, also known as the Nejjarine Museum of Wooden Arts & Crafts. We will admire its beautiful façade before heading to the Mausoleum of Mulay Idris II, dedicated to this significant Moroccan king from the early 9th century.
Finally, we will make our way to the Chouwara tannery, where we'll observe the myriad pits filled with natural dyes used for coloring leather sourced from lamb, ox, goat, and camel. This experience will surely be both unique and memorable!
By the end of approximately 2.5 to 3 hours, we will reach the R'cif Mosque square, one of the serenest spots in Fez.
