Are you ready to immerse yourself in the heart of Tuscany during a single day? This day excursion from Florence includes visits to the charming medieval towns of Pienza, Montalcino, and Monteriggioni, all while enjoying the stunning views of the Val d’Orcia.

Excursion Overview

At the scheduled time, we'll gather at the Santa Maria Novella station and depart from Florence to embark on a journey through medieval Tuscany.

Our first destination will be Pienza, renowned as the ‘ideal city’ of the Renaissance. You will have approximately 1.5 hours to wander its enchanting streets, including the picturesque Via del Bacio (Kiss Street), and indulge in the delightful scents of its celebrated Pecorino cheese, available for tasting in the local boutiques.

The next leg of our adventure brings us to Montalcino, a historical treasure situated on a hill and embraced by vineyards. This town is famous for producing Brunello di Montalcino, one of the most esteemed wines globally. You’ll have around 2.5 hours to traverse its majestic fortress and explore its historical pathways at your own pace.

Our final stop features Monteriggioni, a fortified settlement that has maintained its 13th-century ramparts. Fascinatingly, this village inspired the well-known Assassin’s Creed video game series. We'll have the chance to navigate its walls and visit the Templar Museum, where legends of medieval knights and their armaments await discovery.

As we return, we will once again traverse the breathtaking landscapes of the Val d’Orcia, recognizing the golden terrain where iconic sequences from the film Gladiator were shot.

Our journey concludes back at the meeting point, after a fulfilling total duration of 11 hours.
