Pompeii Train Day Trip
Description
For those in Florence eager to explore the ancient Roman city that was entombed by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius, an excursion to Pompeii by train is an ideal choice.
Pompeii Train Excursion
Your journey begins by collecting your train tickets the day prior to travel. From there, you'll make your way to Santa Maria Novella station in Florence to catch the 6:00 am Frecciarossa train. It's important to arrive punctually!
Upon arriving at Naples Central Station at 9:15 am, an attendant will meet you and guide you to the regional train bound for Pompeii. As you travel, you'll be treated to breathtaking vistas of the Gulf of Naples, the Sorrento peninsula, and Mount Vesuvius.
Once you reach Pompeii, a guide will greet you at the station, showing you the way to the archaeological site. The day before your visit, you will receive your Pompeii tickets along with instructions for downloading the audio guide. There’s no need to visit the ticket office at Pompeii to exchange your ticket. Are you prepared to explore the ancient city?
Your visit will include an audio-guided tour of the excavations within this remarkable site that was buried during the 79 A.D. eruption of Vesuvius. You'll encounter significant landmarks like the baths, the lupanar, the Temple of Jupiter, the forum, and various structures adorned with mosaics and typical Pompeian decor. The site also includes casts of the inhabitants who met their fate in the lava.
After concluding your independent exploration of Pompeii, you’ll reconvene with your tour escort to return to the station and catch your regional train that departs at 2:21 pm. Arriving back in Naples, you’ll board the high-speed train at 3:40 pm, landing in Florence by 6:46 pm.
Pompeii Tour with a Guide
If you prefer a guided experience over an audio guide, you can opt for that as well!
In this case, a guide will be there to welcome you, providing skip-the-line tickets to the Archaeological Park of Pompeii. You’ll participate in a guided walking tour that lasts two hours, allowing for in-depth insights.
Following the tour, your guide will share essential information about continuing your exploration of the Archaeological Park at your own pace. They will also guide you to the route back to Pompeii station for your return journey.
