Tour Overview

Your adventure begins with a pickup from your accommodation in Flores, leading us to the pier to board a boat for a thrilling exploration of Guatemala’s third-largest lake. Let’s set sail and embark on this journey!

As we glide over Lake Petén Itzá, be captivated by the lush tropical rainforest enveloping the lake. Our first destination will be Arcas, a sanctuary for wildlife rehabilitation. Here, we’ll have the opportunity to observe various species rescued and cared for in the Petén region, enhancing our understanding of the critical ecological significance of the lake and its surrounding forests.

Next, our journey takes us to the Tayasal archaeological site, a pivotal area that sheds light on the region's historical narrative. This site marks the last Mayan city to fall to Spanish conquest. During our time here, we’ll explore the significance of this location, which holds deep ties to the ancient Itzá Mayan civilization.

We will then proceed to San Miguel town, where we’ll pause at the Stone Horse and make our way up to King Canek's viewpoint. After a brief hike, we’ll arrive at the top, boasting spectacular views of Lake Petén and its surrounding villages—a perfect opportunity for memorable photographs!

To cap off our day, we’ll return to the boat and travel to Chechenal Beach. Here, you can spend 1 hour unwinding, soaking up the sun, swimming in the lake, and enjoying the tranquil atmosphere. What an exquisite way to relax!

As our tour concludes, we’ll retrace our path back to the departure point, where we’ll part ways after an enriching 3.5 hours.
