Florianópolis Food Tour
Description
Embark on a culinary exploration of Florianópolis, where you will savor a selection of authentic Brazilian dishes while uncovering the cultural essence and hidden gems of the city through its delicious offerings.
Tour Overview
Our journey commences at the bakery of Saint Francis of Assisi, conveniently located by the Florianópolis Public Market, a venue rich in historical significance and flavor.
Here, delight in one of Brazil's trademark snacks: pão de queijo, warm cheese balls that are simply irresistible. You'll also sample fresh sugarcane juice, a refreshing beverage made from pressed sugarcane. Along the way, we will share fascinating anecdotes regarding the market’s historical relevance and its role in everyday life.
Next, we proceed to the Central Fair, a vibrant place showcasing an array of fresh produce, including exotic fruits and essential spices fundamental to Brazilian cuisine. Indulge in a hot pastry that's crispy on the outside and bursting with flavor inside. Don’t miss the opportunity to relish a brigadeiro, a decadent treat made from condensed milk that melts in your mouth.
Our journey continues to the stalls at Plaza XV de Noviembre, where you can sample coxinha, a delightful breaded pastry filled with chicken. You’ll also encounter other specialties, including a scrumptious meat empanadilla, which links you to the island’s rich culinary heritage.
After indulging in so many tastes, we'll pause for a brief walk at the Passarela Nego Quirido. This vibrant area plays a significant role in the Florianópolis Carnaval, where colorful parades and cultural displays captivate visitors.
The last stop will be at Barra Maneca, a local establishment perfect for unwinding with a refreshing drink. Here, you will have the chance to sample jambu cachaça, a distinctive spirit infused with the jambu plant, notable for its mildly numbing sensation. Additionally, enjoy a selection of cold-cut sandwiches that complement this unique beverage beautifully.
To conclude our tour on a sweet note, we will visit the Blumenau Bakery and Patisserie, a cultural icon known for its artistic cakes and breads. Here, indulge in the renowned cuca, a traditional fruit cake topped with a crunchy layer, exemplifying the fusion of influences from German immigrants and Brazilian culture.
After around 3 hours, your flavorful adventure through the culinary landscape of Florianópolis will come to a delightful close.
