Lagoinha do Leste National Park Sunrise Hike

Hike through Lagoinha do Leste to watch the sunrise from Morro da Coroa, and end with a swim in a stunning setting in southern Florianópolis!

Activity Details

At the indicated time, meet in front of Artesanatos e Conveniência Gaia, located in the Pântano do Sul neighborhood, at the southern tip of the island. Upon arrival, you will receive an introduction to the route, including a review of safety measures and distribution of flashlights to start the night walk. Everything is set for this magical adventure under the stars!

With our flashlights on, we'll start the ascent along a 1.4-km (1 mi) trail surrounded by native vegetation in bloom. As we cross the Lagoinha do Leste Natural Park, insights about medicinal plants and ethnobotany will be shared. It's fascinating to learn how many communities utilize this knowledge in their daily lives.

After this initial section, we will enter an area of denser vegetation with exposed roots and rocks, necessitating a careful and relaxed pace. We will take breaks to rest, hydrate, and listen to the sounds of nocturnal wildlife, possibly even spotting fireflies illuminating our path!

Gradually, we will reach Morro da Coroa, the highest point of the hike. From this natural viewpoint, you will be able to enjoy the sunrise over Lagoinha do Leste beach. The stunning display of light and color against the sea and foliage creates an unforgettable view. This is a perfect moment for taking pictures and enjoying the breakfast you brought along, while we share legends, including tales of the famous witches of Ilha da Magia.

After this pause, we will descend towards Lagoinha do Leste beach. Although the trail is short, it is somewhat steep. Once we reach the beach, you will have free time to explore, swim, and visit the saltwater lagoon that gives the area its name.

Lastly, we will return via a different route, approximately 2.5 km (1.2 mi) long, with a series of ascents and descents that allows us to rediscover the landscape in daylight.

Upon arriving back in the Pântano do Sul neighborhood, the activity will conclude after approximately 6 hours.
