Hiking Tour of Poris de Candelaria
Between 7:45 am and 9:45 am, we'll pick you up from your selected meeting point and proceed towards the northwest region of La Palma. Our first destination is Tijarafe, known as one of the island's most picturesque villages.
Our hiking expedition begins as we traverse the Jurado ravine, a remarkable natural feature characterized by towering rock walls that rise over 600 meters (1968 feet). Here, we will be treated to breathtaking views of La Palma's coastline.
This 7-kilometer (4.3 miles) hike, lasting about five hours, allows us to appreciate the island's distinctive coastal flora. Additionally, we may encounter native wildlife, including birds, lizards, and rabbits, that thrive in this beautiful setting.
We will reach Jurado beach, a quaint coastal community that historically functioned as a port for salt and fish. From this point, we will embark on the final leg of our hike towards Poris de Candelaria, which is situated within a marine grotto that stands 50 meters high (164 feet).
Admire the century-old cave-homes, the revered Virgin of Candelaria, and the striking deep blue of the ocean—it's impossible not to fall in love with El Porís de Candelaria right away, a truly authentic paradise!
We'll allow you a leisurely hour of free time to swim in the harbour and enjoy a picnic at your own pace before we head back.
After our break, we will retrace our steps to the bus, concluding our journey and returning you to your initial meeting point.
Pickup Information
The tour includes pickup from various locations in Fuencaliente, Santa Cruz de La Palma, Los Llanos de Aridane, and Los Cancajos. When making your reservation, please select one of the following meeting points:
- Fuencaliente: Princess Hotel at 7:45 am
- Los Cancajos: Tourist Office at 8:45 am or pharmacy at 8:55 am
- Santa Cruz de La Palma: Bus stop on bus line 500 heading north at 9:05 am
- Los Llanos de Aridane: Bus station at 9:45 am

Please note
It's essential to bring comfortable clothes and suitable footwear, as well as sun protection, sunglasses and a cap, enough food and drink for the whole day and a mobile phone with a charged battery. We also advise bringing a swimsuit and towel because, depending on the sea conditions, you can enjoy a dip.
