Connemara Tour
Description
Charming villages, historic sites, and stunning natural vistas await as you explore the breathtaking landscapes of Ireland's west coast on this Connemara and Wild Atlantic Way tour from Galway.
Tour Details
The adventure begins at the designated time at the entrance of Kinlay Hostel in Galway, where we will board a bus primed for an exciting journey along the Wild Atlantic Way. Prepare to be enchanted by the spectacular scenery!
As we head westward along Galway Bay, we will pass through charming Irish towns such as Barna, Furbo, Spiddal, and Inverin. These villages, characterized by thatched cottages and traditional dry stone walls, are embraced by mountains, rivers, and lakes, showcasing the stunning beauty of the Connemara region.
Next, we will uncover one of Connemara's hidden treasures, Bothar na Scragoige. After absorbing the untamed beauty of the bog area, we will take a short stop in the charming coastal town of Roundstone and visit the nearby Dog's Bay Beach.
Our following destination will be Derrygimlagh Bog, a secluded site that was at the forefront of communication and aviation during the early 20th century. We’ll share fascinating insights about this remarkable place!
Continuing along the Wild Atlantic Way, we will pass through Clifden, the capital of Connemara, as we travel to Sky Road, a winding mountain route that provides unmatched views of the ocean from its stunning viewpoints.
You will have the next three hours to shape your experience. Choose to embark on a tour of Connemara National Park, a quintessential area in western Ireland, or opt to explore the exterior of Kylemore Abbey. Interestingly, this abbey was commissioned by politician Mitchell Henry as a wedding gift for his wife, Margaret.
After reconvening, we will journey through the breathtaking Twelve Bens and Maumturk mountain ranges, followed by a drive through the Inagh Valley. We will make a stop to view the Connemara Giant and visit the renowned Quiet Man Bridge, marking the final highlight of our tour.
In conclusion, this 9-hour adventure will culminate with our return to the original departure point in Galway.
