Gdansk Boat Ride
Description
Explore the wonders of Poland's largest port city through an exciting Gdansk Boat Ride, a journey full of fascinating insights and unexpected moments!
Gdansk Boat Ride
We will gather at the designated meeting point in the Galar port, situated within the historic imperial shipyard of Gdansk. From this location, our captivating adventure aboard a traditional galley boat will commence. Are you ready for this unique experience?
The cruise will take us along the Motlava River for a duration of 1 hour and 20 minutes, allowing us to uncover Gdansk's most iconic sites from an exceptional viewpoint. During our journey, you'll witness the impressive merchant vessels in the port and glimpse elements of the historical centre, including remnants of a 14th-century Teutonic castle with its defensive wall still standing!
Subsequently, we will glide past the medieval crane of Gdansk, recognized as the oldest in the Baltic region and a true symbol of the city. The structure underwent significant restoration after sustaining heavy damage during the Second World War.
Our exploration continues as we view the historical edifices on Olowianka Island, constructed by the Knights of the Teutonic Order. We will also take in the remains of storied barns and warehouses that once stored hops and hemp in medieval times, contrasting sharply with the modern architecture that surrounds us today!
In conclusion, we will return to our starting point, wrapping up our delightful galley ride.
What is the boat like?
