Cahorros de Monachil Hike
Description
This hiking trail through the Cahorros of Monachil stands out as one of the most accessible and visually striking adventures, located just a short distance from Granada.
Cahorros de Monachil Hike
Our gathering point will be the Plaza del Profesor Fontboté where we will convene at the scheduled time. Once everyone is assembled, we will board a minibus, setting off toward the Sierra Nevada National Park, approximately a 20-minute ride from the city.
The 6 km (3.5-mile) trail is designed for all fitness levels, making it an ideal choice for families seeking a memorable day amid nature.
As we make our way along the path, expect to encounter a breathtaking natural environment, including numerous suspension bridges that offer spectacular views of the surrounding landscapes.
Indeed, this hiking path through Cahorros de Monachil provides an excellent opportunity to leave the urban rush behind and immerse yourself in the beautiful natural surroundings of the Sierra Nevada range.
Your journey will conclude back at our initial meeting place following a 3-hour experience of nature.
Itinerary Adjustments
This year’s heavy rainfall has resulted in some sections of the trail experiencing damage and small rockfalls. Consequently, a portion of the canyon area is temporarily closed for maintenance and safety reasons.
However, Los Cahorros offers several alternative routes, and we have adjusted our path to ensure you can continue to explore the captivating landscapes characteristic of the original trek. Most of the familiar trail remains accessible, with only a minor section of the canyons currently off-limits, although it can still be appreciated from a different perspective.

Important information
Ten minutes before the indicated time, you must be at the following point in Granada: Profesor Sainz Cantero Street, 13, in the Plaza del Profesor Fontboté. Please be punctual.
To participate in this activity it's necessary to have some agility, as there are narrow sections and places where we have to walk crouching.
We recommend you bring a backpack to carry your belongings and water, since during the walk it's essential to have your hands free.
Itinerary Changes
Due to heavy rainfall this year, part of the trail suffered damage and minor rockfalls. As a result, a section of the canyon area is currently closed for maintenance and safety works.
Los Cahorros has several alternative paths and the route has been adapted to continue exploring the same areas and landscapes as the original experience. You'll still enjoy the majority of the usual route. Only a small section of the canyons cannot currently be crossed, though it can still be admired from a different vantage point.
