Description

The Granada Cármenes Tour is an excellent opportunity to dive into the rich local heritage of Granada. This experience takes you through the picturesque Albaicín neighborhood, renowned for its unique architecture and enchanting gardens. A highlight of the tour includes gaining access to three distinct cármenes.

Granada Cármenes Tour

Our journey begins promptly at 10 am on Paseo del Generalife. Over the course of two hours, we will explore three remarkable manors, referred to as cármenes, delving into their architectural design and historical significance.

We will commence at the Carmen of Martyrs, a splendid manor from the 19th century situated at the base of the Alhambra. We will stroll through its baroque garden adorned with distinct French elements, appreciating the array of sculptures scattered throughout. The English Orchard is particularly captivating, where we may catch sight of swans gracefully gliding across the pond, before continuing to the exquisite Nasrid courtyard.

Next, we will venture into the Albaicín neighborhood, the heart of Granada's historic district. Here, we will visit two additional manors, taking the time to admire the facades of iconic structures, including the Carmen of Our Lady of Angustias and the Carmen of Three Stars, notable for its Arab-inspired architecture.

Our exploration will lead us to the Carmen of Victoria, celebrated for its impressive utilization of water features. Following this, we will head to the Carmen of Max Moreau. While roaming through the estate and its gardens, we will uncover the story of its owner, a Belgian artist who became enamored with the city of Granada.

Upon completing our visits to the three cármenes, we will conclude our tour at Plaza Nueva by 12 noon.

Important

Please note that the Carmen of Victoria has restricted access. In the event that we are unable to enter, we will instead visit the Palacio de los Córdova and the Archaeological Museum (Casa de Hernándo de Zafra).
