Vezzeno Gorge Guided Tour

Gathering at the agreed upon time, we will convene at the entry of Gropparello Castle, which serves as the starting point for our nature hike towards the breathtaking Vezzeno Gorge, a stunning canyon shaped by the eponymous stream.

Our journey will take us along historic patrol trails that stretch from the castle's fortified walls down to the base of the cliffs, where the Vezzeno stream gracefully flows. Throughout our excursion, the guide will share insights about this extraordinary area, marked by the unique dark formations of ophiolite, imparting a somewhat somber beauty to the surroundings.

In this verdant region, we will also visit the Museo della Rosa Nascente (Museum of the Rising Rose), an enchanting environment that features no less than 17 rose gardens. During our time in this floral sanctuary, we will explore the fascinating connections between the various species that make up the local botanical diversity, including white privets, maritime pines, and imperial maples.

Subsequently, we will proceed to the Limonaia, home to the Sala dei Fossili (Fossil Room), which displays fossilized remains of both animals and plants discovered in the region, dating back to the Upper Jurassic era!

After an hour and a half immersed in nature's wonders, we will bid farewell to our guide, bringing our enriching exploration of Vezzeno Gorge to a close.
