Charreada Rodeo Tour
Description
Discover one of the most cherished traditional activities in Jalisco through this charreada rodeo experience in Guadalajara. Engage with skilled charros and ride horses to fully dive into this fascinating sport!
Charreada Rodeo Experience
Our journey begins at 10 am at the Campo Charro Jalisco cultural center in Guadalajara. Here, we will embark on an exploration of charrería or charreada, a celebrated equestrian sport recognized for its cultural significance, listed as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
Guided by genuine charro horsemen, we will explore the charreria museum, where we can admire traditional outfits, saddlery, and metalwork distinctive to charreado. Throughout this visit, we’ll delve into the history of this unique activity, its evolution over the years, and the origins of the term "charro".
Following our tour of the museum, we’ll witness the intricacies of the nine competitive events known as suertes. These events encompass various skills including reining, heeling, steer tailing, and the daring "pass of death," which features a rider leaping onto the back of an untrained horse from another steed. But the excitement doesn’t end there! You will also have the chance to ride the horses, allowing you to feel like a true charro!
Additionally, we will discuss the bond between charros and their horses and engage with a group of charros to learn about the performances they conduct.
After gaining insight into this deeply-rooted tradition of Jalisco, we’ll celebrate our experience with a tequila toast - cheers!
Our adventure wraps up at 2 pm, returning to the original meeting point.
