Enter the renowned La Peña caverns and immerse yourself in the stunning natural landscape of these remarkable caves, situated a mere thirty minutes from Guatapé – an essential experience when exploring Antioquia!

Excursion to the La Peña Caverns

We will gather at the predetermined meeting point at Mall Portobelo. From there, you'll embark on a journey to the La Peña caverns, which are conveniently located just half an hour away.

Upon arrival at the caverns’ entrance, safety helmets will be provided, and then we will proceed to explore these stunning caves that extend to a depth of 100 meters (328 feet). Throughout this network of subterranean tunnels, we will uncover the distinctive geological features characteristic of the Antioquia region of Colombia.

Your adventure will include a 90-minute guided tour of the caves where you will gain insight into their geological formation. The unique array of rocks and minerals that compose the cave walls will also be a sight to behold.

While we traverse the inner chambers, stories and legends surrounding the caves will be shared, as it is believed that the Indigenous Peoples familiar with this region had long known about these enchanting formations.

Following our exploration, we will make our way back to Guatapé, with an anticipated return to the meeting location scheduled four hours after departure.
