Tour Details
While in Havana and looking to delve into its musical scene? We will meet at the scheduled time in front of the National Museum of Fine Arts of Havana. Our journey into the history of Cuban music begins here, setting the tone for an energetic exploration.
We will stroll through the lively streets of Old Havana, the city's passionate core. Our path takes us past the historic Teatro Campoamor and the bustling Parque Central toward Café Mambo. Here, we will pause to explore the roots of danzón, regarded as Cuba's first national dance, and once considered scandalous due to its lively movements.
As we proceed, we will admire the Teatro Lírico Nacional and wander along Obispo Street leading us to Casona del Son. Here, we will unpack the story of son cubano, a rhythm intertwining Spanish and African influences. Interestingly, it started as a marginalized and often banned genre.
Throughout the tour, you will discover the solar Habanero while we discuss how Cuban music has served as a form of resistance and celebration. For instance, rumba originated in the solares and ports, where rum barrels acted as drums, and clapping provided the rhythm. Intriguing, right? We will also observe the iconic Arco de Belén before reaching the renowned Malecón.
And of course, we will dance! At selected stops, you'll have the opportunity to learn the basic steps of Cuban salsa, Cha-cha-chá, or a sequence of Colombian rumba.
We promise you will feel the vibrancy of great music!
In the end, we will return to the meeting point, wrapping up two hours filled with rhythm and energy.
