Havana Mafia + Casino Tour
Description
Have you ever explored the opulent past of the Cuban capital intertwined with the Mafia and organized crime? Join us on this intriguing casino and Mafia exploration as we unveil Havana during its affluent era.
Havana Gangster Tour
We'll kick off our journey at Central Park, where we'll trace the legacy of the Havana Mafia. Are you ready to embark on a captivating tour of the city's flourishing period in the early 20th century?
Our driving excursion through Havana will commence at the Hotel Sevilla, a stunning Mudejar architectural treasure that opened its doors in 1908. In 1930, this landmark came under the management of Amletto Battisti and Santo Trafficante Jr, who established one of the city’s most renowned casinos. Interestingly, it was a venue frequented by the infamous Al Capone.
As we journey along Havana's scenic waterfront, we'll dive into the Sun City initiative, a Mafia scheme aimed at transforming the capital into a casino metropolis akin to Las Vegas. We will also gaze upon the Deauville Hotel, which boasts a counterpart in Miami. Next, we will admire the exterior of the Riviera Hotel, famously selected by the American mobster Meyer Lansky as his operational hub in the city.
Continuing along the coastline, we will venture into the Miramar neighborhood to arrive at the Tropicana Cabaret. This hotspot once attracted gangsters, political figures, and Hollywood legends, all indulging in entertainment and clandestine deals. We'll then proceed to the Vedado neighborhood, where the Capri Hotel stands—a structure financed by Mafia investments during the 1950s, previously owned by Santo Trafficante.
The tour will culminate at the prestigious Hotel Nacional de Cuba, established in 1930 and the site of a major Mafia summit in 1946. On that occasion, the hotel closed its doors to host a Frank Sinatra concert, welcoming the most notorious families from the American Mafia, including Lucky Luciano, Meyer Lansky, y Frank Costello. The successful casino located within this hotel was transformed into the Cabaret Parisien, inaugurated by the celebrated American entertainer Eartha Kitt.
To wrap up our venture, we will enjoy live music at the Garden Bar of the hotel, where you will receive one complimentary drink.
