Havana Walking Tour
Description
Discover the Cuban Revolution through an engaging tour in Havana, where you'll explore the pivotal events that brought Fidel Castro to power.
Havana Walking Tour
Our journey begins at 10 am at the José Martí statue located in Central Park. From this point, we will stroll towards the impressive Bacardi building, the former headquarters of the renowned rum brand, while discussing the fate of this beautiful art deco structure following 1959.
As we continue, we will pass by a local grocery store to gain insights into the country's food rationing system. We will delve into the dark chapter known as Operation Peter Pan, a significant event that saw over 14,000 children transported from Cuba to the United States, exploring the tensions between the Cuban government and the Catholic Church.
Our visit will then take us to the Museum of the Revolution, home to the historic Granma Yacht, which Fidel Castro famously sailed from Mexico and later utilized during the Bay of Pigs invasion. After viewing the exhibits, we will make our way to the Spanish Embassy and a local primary school, where we will learn about the evolution of education on the island since the revolution.
The next highlight will be the stunning National Capitol Building. Following our appreciation of its striking architecture, we will board a bus to the iconic Plaza de la Revolución. During the 20-minute ride, we’ll share fascinating facts about this popular mode of transport.
Once at Plaza de la Revolución, we will see the landmark featuring the image of Che Guevara, one of the revolution's key figures. Our tour will conclude here at 1pm.
