Tiburón Island & Seri Community Day Trip
Description
Experience a remarkable day on this excursion to Tiburón Island, the largest island in all of Mexico. Take in the stunning landscapes and engage with one of the region's oldest indigenous communities, the Seri people.
Day Trip Details
At the agreed time, we will collect you from your hotel in Hermosillo to kick off our adventure. Are you ready to explore the sacred land of the Seri people? Let's begin!
Following a 2-hour journey, we will make a stop at the Saguaro Forest. Here, you will be captivated by the sight of towering cacti exceeding 65 feet (20 meters) in height. This region, characterized by its deserts and ancient flora, serves as a perfect introduction to the natural beauty of Sonora.
Afterward, we will continue our trip to Punta Chueca, the gateway to Tiburón Island, which we will reach in about 40 minutes. Did you know that this is the largest island in Mexico and the Gulf of California? Upon arriving at Punta Chueca, we will board a panga, a traditional boat resembling a canoe, which will transport us to the island in under 30 minutes. During this ride, you will be able to appreciate the crystal-clear waters of the Sea of Cortés.
Upon our arrival, the Seri Tribe, also referred to as the Comcaac Tribe, will welcome us with a traditional song, setting the stage for a truly unique experience. While on Tiburón Island, we will explore the swamps, a biodiverse area filled with birds, fish, and plants. You'll also have time to unwind on its serene beaches.
After spending 3 hours on the island, we'll head back to Punta Chueca and set our course for Bahía de Kino. Here, you'll have the chance to enjoy a delicious lunch and continue exploring at the beach.
In the afternoon, we will visit the Comcaac Museum for a 30-minute stop. This visit will provide insight into the unique culture of this indigenous community, covering their traditions, history, and crafts. Lastly, we will conclude our day at Bahía de Kino Pier, an ideal location to appreciate the views and capture memorable photos.
We will then start our return trip to Hermosillo, concluding this 11-hour adventure with a drop-off at your hotel.
