Day Excursion to Port Arthur and Richmond

We will begin our journey with a pick-up from your Hobart hotel at the scheduled time. A comfortable minibus will await you as we set off, traveling past the notable Government House and the iconic Tasman Bridge that spans the Derwent River, before venturing into the picturesque Coal River Valley. Here, we’ll take a moment to explore the celebrated local vineyards and visit the historic Richmond Bridge.

Our next destination is the Tasman Peninsula, a region characterized by its verdant bushlands, unique wildlife, and stunning coastal vistas. We will pass through the quaint cliffs of Doo Town, soon arriving at the breathtaking Tasman National Park in Pristine Pirates Bay, where dramatic coastlines and remarkable geological formations await our discovery.

At this point, we'll head toward Port Arthur for a guided exploration of this significant historic site. To further enrich your visit, you'll have the option to use an audio guide and enjoy five hours dedicated to unraveling the extensive history of this UNESCO World Heritage Site. You will visit key places such as the Interpretation Center, the Penitentiary, the Commandant's House, the Harbor Church, and the Port Church.

After our time at Port Arthur, we’ll take to the waters on a boat tour through Carnarvon Bay, where we will seek out the enigmatic Island of the Dead. As we navigate its haunting shores, tales of this convict burial site with its somber history will be shared with you.

Following our boat cruise, we’ll return to Port Arthur, allowing you free time for lunch on your own. After your meal, we recommend visiting Tasmania’s renowned Chocolate Foundry to indulge in a sweet delight.

Ultimately, we will make our way back to your Hobart hotel, with an expected return approximately 9 hours after the start of the tour.
