El Chorro de Maíta & Guardalavaca Beach Day Trip

Join us for a day trip to the El Chorro de Maíta Museum, where we will delve into the rich history of the Taino natives from eastern Cuba. This excursion also includes a visit to the stunning Guardalavaca Beach.

Tour Description

The adventure begins with the pickup from your hotel in Holguín. Following this, we will journey for an hour to one of the locations renowned for its indigenous heritage in Cuba.

Upon reaching Guardalavaca, we will proceed to the El Chorro de Maíta Museum. Here, we will explore an archaeological site that is home to one of the largest aboriginal cemeteries in the Caribbean. Before we start our exploration, we will be served a welcome cocktail while learning intriguing insights into the lives of the ancient indigenous people who inhabited the Atlantic shores of the island.

Following this, a guided tour of this mysterious necropolis, uncovered in 1986, awaits us. Consider the numerous burials that have been uncovered! After absorbing the histories contained within the museum, we will visit the Taino village of Chorro de Maíta. Here, a recreation of an aboriginal ceremony will be performed by locals, who are the descendants of this ancient culture.

After the ceremony, we will dine at a local restaurant where a delightful traditional lunch will be served, giving you the option to choose from vegetarian meals or various options including seafood, chicken, beef, or pork. Bon appétit!

Once recharged, we will make our way to the idyllic Guardalavaca Beach, where you'll have 2 hours of leisure time to bask in the sun and enjoy the warm waters.

To conclude our day, we will return to Holguín, where we will bid farewell as we drop you off at your hotel, approximately 7 hours after our initial departure.
